Selection of Photos

I have been experimenting with putting photos onto my blog, and the tiled mosaic effect always looks the best to give a great headline in the reader.

I chose a small selection of photos which I thought might be interesting for some to look at. I like taking a variety of photos, and am particularly interested in nature and water.

Double rainbow caught in Luton

Double rainbow
This was the first time in 40 years that I’d seen a double rainbow. Caught it by chance in Luton, so unfortunately didn’t have my Canon to hand. The iPhone took a reasonable picture though.

Red flower at sunset
I walk along a field everyday and had never noticed these flowers, until I saw them at sunset. As the sun set, these little red flowers started to glow brighter than anything around. Very unusual, and just shows how different light affects what you see.

Lavender
Lavender always has such a strong colour to it that makes it a great flower to take picture of. Lucky I caught this green butterfly to provide a real contrast to all the purple around it.

Boots underwater
This is a shot taken with an Olympus water proof camera. I am always interested in unusual shots, and those taken underwater allow for a different perspective on everyday items.

World Heritage site – Wies Kirche, Germany
This unassuming church in the middle of nowhere (aka Stiengaden) in Bavaria, Germany has been rightly listed a world heritage site for it’s magnificent fresco ceiling with the great doors of heaven waiting to open up and welcome you in.

One Giant leap for a tiny caterpillar

One giant leap for a caterpillar
Managed to catch this tiny caterpillar making a death defying leap from one piece of wood to another. It must have been a risk taker as I’m sure it has a smile on it’s face.

One big splash
This one looks like it’s been altered in Photoshop, but has actually has not been altered in any way. This was taken with an Olympus water proof camera, but it was the timing of the shot together with the flash which gave this effect.

Hope you enjoy my first photos on this site. Do let me know which are your favourite.

      • Most of the wildlife photos that I try to take require those same two elements. You have to lucky and quick to take advantage of the situations you find, irrespective of what camera you are using, especially with elusive subjects or changing light or conditions.

      • Agreed, I would love to carry round the SLR but it’s just too much equipment to lug about – especially when trying to manage the two kids too! At least with digital you don’t have to waste tons of film to find you have 1 decent photo.

    • This is just a standard wordpress feature. After you add a gallery of pictures (rather than an individual one), you can edit some options and just select the Tiled Mosaic effect.

You can also add captions on each photo if you want.

Let me know if you need anymore help with that. Sometimes the simple things can have a great impact!

I would love to hear your comments...
