Hi and welcome to my blog.
This is my first foray to the world of blogging, which is quite ridiculous considering I have worked in the computing industry for nearly 20 years. I have some spare time on my hands, so I wanted to see if I could write successfully and if anyone was interested in what I had to write about.
Now About Me
I just turned 40. And while a lot of people say life begins at 40, I could say that I have lost some direction.
I have a young family, and have all the worries that come with that. As with all children, they are great fun, and then can wear out your patience in no time.
I have worked in the financial sector for over 10 years, but ultimately found it unfullfilling. Creating programs for other companies just lost it’s interest over the years. Being my own boss is where I want to be, but deciding where to put my efforts is the difficult choice to make.
I own some property which I rent out, which has given me some freedom to choose my direction in life, but there is constant balancing of the books required to sustain my lifestyle. Being a landlord is not the easiest of things to do.
So, what will I be writing about
Well, anything that comes to mind. I doubt there will be one particular theme running through the blog, but more whatever I have been spending a lot of time thinking about.
Things I am interested in –
Creativity – I have always been fascinated by the creative nature of people. From music, art to maths and science. How do people come up with new creative ideas?
Inspiring PeopleΒ – I hope to find some inspiration reading other blogs. As well as seeing their creativity, it might inspire me to move in another direction.
Travelling – I have done a lot of travelling in my past, seeing new places, people, listening to their music and especially eating their food are things I love to do.
Making Easy Money – Obviously people need it, but how much and how much effort to put into the pursuit of money? I will never be in the ranks of the billionaires, but a couple of million would do me!
So, this is the first effort. I hope you enjoy reading my blog. If you have any questions, please feel free to ask.
Danny.

I have a young family as well, write random things, and will turn 40 in March. We’ll get along swimmingly. Welcome!
Hi Audrey, Thanks for the follow, liked your site too – full of random thoughts!
You might want to install the comment ability on your home page/posts. I couldn’t find a way to comment on your recent photos. I will do it here, just so you know I enjoyed looking at them. Well done. I especially enjoyed the caterpiller. I hope he had a smile. π The water photos are becoming a quick favorite of mine these days. Yours were stunning.
Thanks for checking this. Didn’t realise you had to enable comments on your posts, I thought it was enabled by default!
Glad you liked the photos. It takes me a while to get going on these things, so hopefully I’ll start creating more content.
No problem! It’s a process… the hours its taken me over the last 6 months. I can’t even think about it. And I thought blogging was all about writing. Silly me. π
Thank you for the follow, it’s very encouraging.
Terry
Thanks for the follow!
It’s nice to meet you Danny. I also just turned 40 and on a whim, decided to have my mid-life crisis by delving into the blogging community (an uncharacteristic move for an introvert). I think you’ll quickly make connections and find your voice, which is a journey worth taking! Blessings. π
Thanks for the encouraging comments. Starting this blog has given me new direction which I am having fun with at the moment.
Thanks for dropping by.
I, too, am an introvert and recently read a couple of books on being an introvert in an extrovert world. Turns out that blogging and social media are a great place for introverts. We’re not anti-people, but we like them one at a time, if possible. Blogging lets us meet our need for companionship and friendship, yet lets us dwell in our solitude, which is where we charge our internal batteries.
That is interesting, have to give it another thought π
Thanks so much for following my blog, Tide Line Still Life. I hope that you enjoy! I look forward to really digging into some of your tutorials, as I am currently thinking about the format of my blog, and what I could change. Enjoy your day (which is already half over… love how small the world becomes with blogs!). Best, Maggie
I only just started blogging, so need to get used to how wordpress works. I’ll be rejigging my layouts too soon. Glad if I can help someone!
Thanks, Danny!
Thanks for dropping by my blog & following.
I DO like your lessons/tutorials on your Internet site. I’m hopeless, so end up doing the same format & layout all the time. And, if I do get the layout right, next morning when I log in, I see my post has gone haywire and have to fix it, revert back to the old layout, or worse, just delete the whole post.
And ploughing through the WordPress forums or Help function is too overwhelming for my cognitive dysfunction since I’ve retired.
I have the same problem – the web is a fantastic tool, but sometimes finding the right info is a real pain.
I can waste hours looking for something that should be really simple!
Glad to be of help, and hope to put more tutorials on when I get some time.
Thank you so much for reading my posts and following my blog. I appreciate it!
I always love checking out other peoples photos. Thanks for the follow back. Love your cat ones!
Hi Danny, thanks so much for stopping by and for the follow on my blog. I look forward to reading yours too! π
Thanks for checking mine out too. I hope you find something interesting on there. Love all the autumnal photos on there. Might have to take some myself!
It was my pleasure. Thank you, autumn is my favorite,so I may have went a bit overkill with the fall related posts and photos, but I can’t help myself, it’s such a lovely time of year! π Yes, if you’ve still got some autumn colors going on there where you are, I say go for it, and I look forward to seeing what you come up with. Have a wonderful day Danny!
Danny, you’ve got a great beginning. I look forward to seeing more.
Thank you for visiting my blog. Like others who’ve commented, I think you are off to a terrific launch. Have at it as I’m sure to swing by your blog during my WordPress sorties….all the best to you!
Thanks for the encouraging comments, and hope you do drop by again.
Well thank God you found my site. Just bought a fancy pants camera and would love to find out how to take amazing pic’s. BTW thanks for the follow.
Thanks for dropping by. I’m not a pro-photographer, but like to try out different things with photos. Great thing is you don’t have to fork out thousands developing the photos anymore!
Thanks for becoming a Follower. I’m enjoying your blog as well. Happy blogging.
Thanks for the follow back. Sometimes the phone is the only camera you have when out and about, so great you have the phoneography challenge.
Yes, please join the fun.
Thanks for visiting my blog and following it. I’ll be checking yours out too. I could use tutorials! Glad you’re posting some.
Thanks for visiting too. Love your random selection of photos. I’ll be posting more tutorials soon, so hope you drop by again and find something of interest.
Hi Danny. You have a really interesting blog with some fabulous photos. Congratulations! If you are interesting in showing off your shots to a wider audience, we host a weekly travel photography competition in which we would love you to participate. Here are the details: http://hitchhikershandbook.com/your-contributions/travel-photography/. Happy travels!
Thanks for checking by. I’ll definitely consider putting some photos on, but just need to resurrect my facebook account!
Dear Danny, wow, what a courageous opening of your feelings. So flattered that you have recently chosen to follow Learning from Dogs. Always encouraging other bloggers to submit a guest post to LfD and goes for you, of course. Best of luck.
How do you do a guest post? Do you reblog a post of mine or is it something else?
Thanks for the follow if you are ever in Traverse City Michigan let me know so I can help you find anything you need.
Thanks for dropping by and if I get to Traverse City, I’ll be sure to look you up. You have some real nice photos on your site BTW.
Thanks, the photos are from local photographers. Glad to know they are enjoyed.
Hey Danny!
I am honored that you are following my blog. I donβt know about you, but I sometimes feel like a castaway on a deserted island. It warms my heart to know that you will be visiting me.
Have a great day!
Rita
Thanks for checking by. You have some interesting posts on your site. Do drop by again…
I just got the Samsung Notebooky thingyβ¦should be here Wednesday. It doesn’t seem fair that they hold all the pocker chips!
dannyboybrokerick, is a great name, btw!
I have seen the Samsung Galaxy’s – they look nice. The trouble these days is once you start buying Apple, you get stuck with it.
Samsung and Apple have the market cornered. Still, Nokia was in a pole position a few years back, and now they’re nowhere.
Thanks for the kind comments and for dropping by.
I agree. Makes you wonder who kidnapped Nokia. π
hey there!
love your list of “things” you’re interested in π
and yes, your blog looks inspiring! good luck and keep on smiling
Thanks for your encouraging comments Andrea.
Hi Danny,
Thanks for the blog follow. IT and Financial Services seem to have swallowed a whole generation of minds. It’s nice to come across another escapee learning to think for oneself again.
Ross
I was lucky to fall into these industries and gain some level of freedom. It gave me time to re-focus my attention on more important things in life – like writing this blog!
Thanks for the follow and for dropping by…
Thanks for following my blog
Thanks for dropping by, you have some interesting health posts on your blog.
Great poem! (You really need to add a comment section after each post.) π
I keep forgetting to set the comment box on by default. It’s there now!
I was also wondering why I wasn’t getting any comments on my posts…now I know.
Good!! You’re about page’s comments would be a mile long.
I really like your poem. I too, hadn’t posted a poem for anyone to read in years. Lately, I haven’t been able to stop them. It seems the creativity of other bloggers has pushed me to try. It’s fun. Today happens to be a poetry posting day for me as well. (I sudder, but will publish.) π
thank you for visiting and following my blog!
You have some great photos on your site. Thanks for dropping by and following me too.
Thank you for following me.
You’re welcome. Thanks for dropping by and taking a look around.
Thank you so much for the follow..!! I will be sure to check out your blog too π
Thanks for dropping by. It seems like you are having a great time in Mexico – are you still there, and do you have any plans to return to US?
Yes, Mexico was great. I am currently back in the US π
Turned 40 in July, and not sure how I feel about it. It’s not as bad as some made out to be, and not as good as I would like to believe on certain days π
Thanks for following my blog!
For me turning 40 didn’t really make much difference. Still have the same routines to go through. Always look at the positives and make each day a good day.
Thanks for dropping by.
Hi Danny, thanks for following my blog. Let me know when you will turn 50 π
Greeting from France.
No doubt in 10 years time we’ll all be doing something else. Thanks for the follow, and hope you check by every now and then.
Thanks for following! Great to connect with you!:) -Viviene
Thanks for checking by Viviene.
Hey Danny, thanks for the follow and I hope you enjoy some photos from Norway. π
Thanks for dropping by. Loved seeing the ducks going for a dip in the freezing water.
Poor wee buggers! π
Best wishes in your blogging, career and fatherhood. And thank you, Danny, for your interest in Gwichyaa Zhee.
You have some great winter photos. Fortunately our winters aren’t so bad over here!
Thanks for dropping by.

Challenge accepted. Now what’s the topic?
Thanks for the follow, and a nice blog you have! With just one visit I’ve already found a couple of nice tips, and I look forward to seeing more! Have a great 2014 ahead!
Thanks for your kind comments and for dropping by. Hope you drop in every now and then…
Hi Danny. Interesting-looking blog. Thanks for following my haiku blog. You may, however, want to read the most recent post which explains that I am now using harcourt51.co.uk instead. If you are interested in diversity, that’s the place to go. π
Thanks Michael, switched to your harcourt51 blog. By the way, noticed you have a business and personal blog, do you use syndication to get posts from one to the other?
Hi Danny. Thanks for the follow. My business blog is new so I am still experimenting. So far I have simply reblogged everything. I am looking for an easier way!
If your business blog is self-hosted, then you can add a plugin to send content to your wordpress.com blog. It’s called syndication.
Thanks Danny. I have looked at the plugins available from Automattic (WordPress). Which one do I need, please?
The one I use is Push Syndication from Automattic. It works on the whole, but there are a couple of things that could be improved. Give it a go, and let me know how you get on.
Great. Thanks for the advice.
Hello Danny,
Thanks for the advice. I have set up Push Syndication and it posts to the Reader in WordPress.com. So thank you for the help on this. I am very pleased to get my message that far.
One last question, if I may. Did you say that I could post to a WordPress.com blog automatically? Or would I have to do something else?
Thanks for the help. What I have so far will make a huge difference.
Michael
I use Push Syndication to post from dannyboybroderick.co.uk (self-hosted) to dannyboybroderick.wordpress.com. It saves me having to write on two blogs.
Again, it’s not perfect, but if it saves time, then I’ll use it.
Hi Danny, Thank you for stopping by and following my blog. I am right there with ya, just turned 50, needed a change, delving into photography, started a blog to rekindle my creative spirit.
I think these milestones are a good time to rethink your direction. Great to get back into photography. BTW, what camera do you use to take your dance shots? I always find it hard to get a sharp image in bad light conditions, but your look pretty good.
Danny, I had fun with your math problem 10=? even though I got in late on the action. Thank you for the visit and I hope you will visit again soon! π
~L
Thank you for stopping by my blog and following me!
-Mary
Thank you for dropping by, you have some great sunrise photos…

Indeed, and thanks for coming to visit.
Thanks for the follow!
Thanks for the visit. BTW was your London Eye photo coloured in photoshop, or is there a red capsule in there now?
There is red capsule. π
That makes it a bit easier.
Glad to meet via Don Charisma. Love your pics, especially the one of the little robin. I’m visiting Pullman Washington as I type and here the robins are fat and happy π Have a great week! #NF
Hi Angie, Thanks for dropping by and the follow. I’m glad you enjoy my photos. π
I appreciate your art and am grateful to anyone who adds beauty to my day π
